I have an Anet A8 Plus. When using Auto Homing, the extruder nozzle crashes into the platform. I tried several Marlin generations of the firmware (with the correct corresponding configuration files.
The problem remains the same. The only change I implemented is Auto Bed Leveling. Can anyone help?
Hello @Yosmanor
I do not have your printer, I’m just a Marlin user like you. But I will give you my rubbish advice for free.
It could be that the Z-axis offset is very wrong. Check this first.
However, it sounds to me like your Z-axis sensor is not working, or is not properly connected to the motherboard. I don’t know if your machine has a probe or a limit switch, but the problem should be similar.
Over time, heat and vibration can cause plugs to come loose. I have a Max Neo and it came with the plugs glued to the motherboard with silicon to prevent this. Lofi solution, but it works.
I would look there next, because a print head driving into the bed seems to indicate that the software is not receiving the message to stop. If you do have a probe, I would start with that cable.
Another cabling place that can be a problem is the connection to the Z-axis motor itself; check that it’s tight.
Those are the only physical problems that occur to my amateur brain.
However, I also remember having a similar problem with the X axis (not the Y), and I am afraid I cannot give you exact steps because it was a long time ago. But the issue was to do with initial values in the firmware that had to be manually configured before any auto stuff would reliably work.
Something to do with, the firmware has to know how big the machine is, and where the actual edges of the bed really are. I am guessing but I think it is found in a section called Advanced > Physical dimensions or something.
Anyway I hope that’s useful to you.
Thanks DeeBeeKay,
I appreciate you input. I suspected the probe for a while. To be able to do any printing, I switched back to to Z axis switch and looking into another type of probe. I was using an induction probe until now. I am switching to BLTouch because there is more out there for this probe.
