Will there ever be an option for TJC display units? I don’t have a DWIN display and when I compile the firmware all other options fail but not the DWIN. When I flash the firmware. The display only shows the temp and cords text at the bottom. All other icons are gone. Thanks for the help.
Hello!
I would like to please add my tiny voice to this.
Short version: an Ender Max Neo with TJC firmware would be very nice please and thank you @CRCinAU.
Long version:
Only read on if you want to hear some spectacularly dumb decision making.
I am a foolish, foolish person. This is in fact well known, ask anyone in my community.
Because I am foolish, I spent several months attempting to revive the corpse of a Creality Ender 3 Max. I still have moments when I think I could probably get it going if I just … anyway, it’s on the shelf next to the corpse of the Cetus Mk2. I miss you every day, you sexy little thing.
But now I’m in a situation of actual need: not being able to print is blocking multiple crucial plotlines. Time for a new printer.
I can do this because I have savings, which were kinda sorta for this, vaguely, but also not, you know how that is. Much Googling. Much comparing. Much sort by Lowest Price.
This was the first, but not most, foolish thing I did: I purchased a brand new Creality Ender 3 Max Neo, because it was a goddamn steal. Shut up. I know.
But I said to myself, look, a Max Neo is just a Max that comes preinstalled with all of the things that I had to install on the old Max, and this time, I don’t have to make any of them either. I know this machine, all the bits are new, this’ll be great.
It wasn’t just the complete failure of the above logic. Many signs from the universe were also telling me it was dumb, but I clicked Check Out because it was a national chain, so what could go wrong?
Well, they might ship me an empty box (that’s a message from the divine, right there). And I might spend hours on the phone with robots that refuse to escalate, resulting in my having to drive hours to the branch that shipped it, until the moment of ultimate foolishness.
You see, I had one of those written-for-TV moments where I pointed out that, according to their own manifest, they’d managed to ship a 14kg printer in a box that weighed only 1.3kg when it left the warehouse.
The facial expressions change, we’re very sorry sir, we still have two in stock, can load in your truck right now. We cool?
I COULD HAVE SAID NO.
I could have said give me my money back.
Instead I made the horrible error of bringing it home, and lovingly assembling it with all of the knowledge and care I learned in the fire of the Ender 3 Max.
Because oh no. No it’s not an Ender 3 Max at all.
Oh Christ, what have I done? Where are all the menus? Oh dear god, I’ve bought a Duplo printer.
Wait, I can’t just Marlin this immediately? I just assumed that … oh. What is this bull$#!! display situation? Why would a manufact … oh. I see.
I’ve managed to update the display, so I can see text now wheeeeeee, but the only working precompiled firmware I’ve found in the wild causes the printer to freeze after creating the first mesh.
Please. Please, @CRCinAU. I’m not a cash-rich guy but I’d be down to pre-buy some years if you’d consider adding this screen configuration. If we lived in the same country I’d send you a shitload of avos and honey, though.
