Ender 3 Max v4.2.2 w/Bltouch issues

I’m having trouble printing outside of the typical 220x220 boundaries which are typical of the Ender3/Pro series. Is it possible that these limitations are happening in the provided firmware?

Jeff

Are you using the Ender 3 Max specific firmware for the v4.2.2 mainboard? It should be this one:
https://marlin.crc.id.au/firmware/Ender%203%20Max%20-%20v4.2.2%20Board%20-%20BLTouch/

The bed size on the Ender 3 Max should be 300x300.

Double check the bed size in your slicer as well.

I feel like such an idiot right now. I had downloaded/installed the firmware for the Ender 3 Pro w/Bltouch and not the one from your link. (What happens when you get excited and try to get things working late into the night. ) Hours of troubleshooting the next day had me pointed in the right direction, it was indeed the firmware. Thank you for this service! You are worth your weight in gold.

All good mate, we’ve all been there.

My favourite one for me was when I was rebuilding my custom Ender 3 Pro - this thing has the works:

  • 240v / 500W AC heated bed
  • 70W hotend heater
  • 30A MOSFET on the hotend heater (to remove load from the mainboard)
  • 300c capable thermistor
  • Dual Z lead screws (but belt driven)
  • Yellow springs with nuts against the bed to eliminate movement
  • All metal hotend
  • Direct Drive (with stock extruder)
  • 0.9 degree stepper motors on all axis (vs default 1.8 degree steppers)
  • Double sided PEI flexplate

and probably more I’ve forgotten about…

Then when homing, forgot to adjust the BLTouch and ended up driving the brand new titanium nozzle hard into the bed - putting a ding in both sides of the brand new flex plate.

Whoops. That’s ~$35USD ready for the bin without seeing a single millimetre of filament :sob:

The key is, don’t be too hard on yourself for making mistakes, we do it all that time, and its how we learn.
