Why does the probe not stop the nozzel from hitting the bed on auto home, or bed leveling

Initially - When I auto home, or do a bed leveling the probe does not retract quickly (snap back) to signal the z axis to stop lowering. The nozzle then hits the bed.

After that when it does the leveling the print head comes down slowly and the pin on the probe moves up slowly as it hits the bed until it turns red, then moves to t he next probe point. In the past, with the standard creality software the probe would snap back when it hit the bed . Then redeploy for the next position. Why is this different? Is this the “high speed” measuring causing this?
